Thanks to increasing globalization and the hegemony of multinational corporations, cities are becoming more and more homogenous. Step into a shopping mall almost anywhere in the world and, save for the language being used, you could just as well be at your hometown mall. Despite this, it is still possible to find the true ethos of a city in its architecture, people, customs, art, and markets.
Sometimes, cities in different parts of the world have been shaped by similar forces. As an example, it is impossible to visit Liverpool and not see the indelible presence of The Beatles. In Cleveland, similarly, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has enriched the city with the rock and roll spirit.
So long as I am able to travel, I'll keep searching for the uniqueness of the world's cities.
